The next generation Maruti Suzuki Wagon R is drawing close to an official launch and thanks to the recent teasers we now have more information about it. Maruti has dubbed this generation as the Big Wagon R crediting to its increased proportions over the previous generation.
The cabin also looks to be roomier and feature rich with a new instrument console, touchscreen infotainment system and more. The dashboard gets the dual-tone treatment. The system is also likely to come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as connectivity options.
On the outside, the Wagon R sports a wide new grille with bold headlamps, while the rear gets vertically stacked taillights. The bonnet is slightly larger and the C-pillar gets blacked out treatment to give the floating roof effect, a common sight on new Marutis these days.
The Wagon R will also be bringing an all-new engine under the hood. There 1.2-litre petrol engine on offer borrowed from the Swift, this model will be served on the top variants while the lower variants will be powered by the same the 1.0-litre three-cylinder K-Series motor on the previous model.
Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and AMT. The big new Wagon R will take on the Hyundai Santro, Tata Tiago, Datsun GO and the Renault Kwid in the segment.
